Scan to FTP Manual Method

Load your document.

Press the

(Scan) key.

Press

to choose Scan to FTP.

Press OK.

Press

to choose Manual.

Press OK.

Note

If there is no FTP Profile configured, skip 4 and go to 5.

Enter the FTP host address (for example ftp.example.com up to 60 characters) or the IP address (for example 192.23.56.189).

Press OK.

Enter the destination folder (for example /brother/abc/, up to 60 characters).

Press OK.

Enter Username. Press OK.

Enter Password. Press OK.

Press

to choose Quality.

Press

to choose Color 150 dpi, Color 300 dpi, Color 600 dpi, B/W 200 dpi or B/W 200x100 dpi.

Press OK.

Press

to choose File Type.

Press

to choose PDF or JPEG for colour or greyscale documents and PDF or TIFF for B/W document.

Press OK.

For MFC-6490CW

If you use the scanner glass of the machine, choose document size.

•	Press or to choose Glass ScanSize.
•	Press or to choose A4, A3, Letter, Legal or Ledger. Press OK.

Do one of the following:

•	If you want to start scanning, press Mono Start or Colour Start and go to 14.
•	If you want to change the file name, go to 12.

Press

to choose File Name.

Press OK.

Press

to choose a file name you want to use and press OK. Press Mono Start or Colour Start and go to 14.

Note

If you want to change the file name manually, go to 13.

Press

to choose Manual. Press OK.

Enter the file name you want to use (up to 15 characters) and press OK. Press Mono Start or Colour Start and go to 14.

The LCD shows Connecting. When the connection to the FTP server is successful the machine starts the scanning process.

If you are using the scanner glass, the LCD displays Next Page?. Press 1 for Yes or press 2 for No.

Note

If a timeout or any other error occurs, start the Scan to FTP process again from the beginning 1. If the username is entered incorrectly then the LCD will show Authenticate Err, please start the process again from the beginning 1.
