Generally your Brother machine is protected from any unauthorized access if you use an Internet Service Provider and have set a private IP address on your Brother machine.

Hint for using your Brother machine more securely in a network
You should protect the address book, fax settings .etc information registered on your Brother machine by setting a password.
You can set a password following the steps below:
NOTE: The screens may differ depending on operating system being used and your Brother machine.

Note for using Brother machines with memory card drives (slots)
If multiple users are using your Brother machine, we do not recommend you leave the memory card inserted. Remove the memory card every time you have finished using it.
