Configuring your printer for a wireless network

There are three methods to configure your wireless network printer; by using the automatic installer application on the CD-ROM (recommended), using the SecureEasySetup™ software and the printer control panel.

Using the SecureEasySetup™ software to configure your printer for a wireless network

The SecureEasySetup™ software of Broadcom Corporation is an easy way to configure your Brother device to your wireless network settings. By pushing a button on the wireless router or access point, you can complete setup and secure the wireless network. Your router or access point must also support SecureEasySetup™. See the user’s guide for your wireless LAN router or access point for instructions to configure your printer for a wireless network.

Routers or access points that support SecureEasySetup™ have the SecureEasySetup™ symbol as shown below.

Push the SecureEasySetup™ button on your wireless router or access point. See the user’s guide for your wireless router or access point for instructions.

Press any of the Menu buttons (+, -, OK or Back) of the control panel on your printer to take the printer off-line.

The message above only appears when the wireless setting is disabled.

The wireless network connection status using the SecureEasySetup™ software will be displayed on the control panel; Connecting WLAN, Connected or Connection NG.
 
Connecting WLAN is displayed when the print server is trying to make connections to your router or access point. Wait till either Connected or Connection NG is displayed.
Connected is displayed when the print server is successfully connected to your router or access point. You can now use your printer in a wireless network.
Connection NG is displayed when the print server has not successfully connected to your router or access point. Try starting from 1 again. If the same message is displayed again, reset the print server back to the default factory settings and try again.

You have completed the wireless setup. To install the printer driver, Go to step 1 on this page for Windows® or For Macintosh® users.

For Windows® users

Turn on your computer. (You must be logged on with Administrator rights.)
Close any applications running before configuration.

Put the supplied CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. The opening screen will appear automatically. Select your printer and the language.

Click Install Printer Driver.

Click Wireless Network users.

For Windows Vista™, when the User Account Control screen appears, click Allow.

Choose Driver Install Only, and then click Next.

For Macintosh® users

Turn on your Macintosh®.

Put the supplied CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. Double-click the HL4040_4050_4070 icon on your desktop. Double-click the Start Here icon. Select your printer and the language.
