9 Network printing from a Macintosh®

Overview

This chapter explains how to print from a Macintosh® on a Network using the Simple Network Configuration capabilities on Mac OS® X 10.2.4 or greater.

How to choose the print server (TCP/IP)

For Mac OS®X 10.2.4 to 10.4.x

Turn on the machine by plugging in the power cord.

From the Go menu, choose Applications.

Open the Utilities folder.

Double-click the Printer Setup Utility Icon. (Mac OS® X 10.2.x users, click the Print Center icon.)

Click Add.
(For Mac OS® X 10.2.4 to 10.3.x) Go to 6.
(For Mac OS® X 10.4.x or greater) Go to 7.

(For Mac OS®X 10.2.4 to 10.3.x) Make the following selection.
(Mac OS® X 10.2.4 - 10.3.x)

Choose Brother MFC-XXXX (XXXX is your model name), and then click Add.

Click the printer, then click Make Default to set the printer as the default printer. The printer is now ready.
For Mac OS®X 10.5.x

Turn on the machine by plugging in the power cord.

From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.

Click Print & Fax.

Click + button to add your machine.

Choose Brother MFC-XXXX (XXXX is your model name), and then click Add.

From the Default Printer pull-down list choose your model to set as the default printer. The printer is now ready.
