Scan Using Web Services (Windows Vista® SP2 or Later and Windows® 7)

The menu that allows you to use Web Services for scanning is displayed on your Brother machine’s LCD if you have installed the driver for scanning via Web Services. For information about installing Web Services, see Installing drivers used for scanning via Web Services (Windows Vista® and Windows® 7) in the Network User’s Guide.
Note Note
Certain characters in the messages displayed on the LCD may be replaced with spaces when the language settings of your OS and your Brother machine are different.
If the LCD shows Out of Memory, decrease the Paper size setting or the Resolution setting. For details, see Configuring Settings for Scanning.

Load your document.

Swipe left or right, or press Bsymbol.ltri or Bsymbol.rtri to display Scan 1.

Press to PC.

Swipe left or right to display WS Scan.

Press WS Scan and then OK.

Press the type of scan you want to do.

Swipe up or down, or press Bsymbol.utri or Bsymbol.dtri to display the destination computer you want to send to.
Press the destination computer.

Press Start.
The machine starts scanning process.

Configuring Settings for Scanning

If the LCD shows Out of Memory, decrease the Paper size setting or the Resolution setting.

(Windows Vista®)
Click the Graphic button, Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, then Scanners and Cameras.
(Windows® 7)
Click the Graphic button, All Programs, Brother, ADS-XXXXX (where XXXXX is your model name), Scanner Settings, then Scanners and Cameras.

Click your machine, and then click the Scan Profiles button.
The Scan Profiles dialog box will appear.

Choose the scan profile you want to use. Make sure the scanner selected in Scanner is a Brother machine that supports Web Services for scanning.
Click Set as Default.

Click Edit. The Edit Default Profile dialog box will appear.

Choose the Source, Paper size, Color format, File type, Resolution, Brightness and Contrast settings.

Click Save Profile. The settings will be applied when scanning using the Web Services protocol.
Note Note
If you are requested to choose a software application to scan, choose Windows® Fax and Scan or Windows® Photo Gallery from the list.
