Update and Back Up Data using USB Flash Drive
You can use a USB flash drive to update templates and databases, obtain printer settings, and copy the settings to other printers.

USB flash drives with security features may not work correctly.
Update Templates and Databases
- Convert the template (LBX file) or database (for example, an Excel file) you want to update into a transferable file format (BLF or BIN).To convert files using P-touch Editor, do the following:
- Click Export. , and then select
- Save the file in the BLF format.
- Store the BLF or BIN files on a USB flash drive.
- Insert the USB flash drive into the USB port on the printer.
- Press Menu, and then select to update data on the printer.
Retrieve Printer Settings and Copy Them To Other Printers
- Insert a USB flash drive into the USB port on the printer you intend to retrieve the printer settings from. (Referred to as Printer 1 in the steps below.)
- Press Menu, and then select .
- When Printer 1 prompts you to enter the printer's password, enter the password for this printer.
- Remove the USB flash drive from Printer 1 and insert it into the USB port on the printer you intend to copy the settings to. (Referred to as Printer 2 in the steps below.)
- Press Menu, and then select .
- When Printer 2 prompts you to enter the printer's password, enter the password for this printer.
- When Printer 2 prompts you to enter the data password, enter the password for Printer 1.
- NOTE

- The printer's password contains alphanumeric characters and is located on the nameplate on the bottom of the printer marked "Pwd".
The password can be changed using BRConfiguration Tool or Web based Management.
- If Printer 1 and Printer 2 have different firmware versions, they may not work correctly.
To check the printer firmware version, press Menu, and then select .
