I am unable to change my Brother machine's Receive Mode.
If you want to know which Receive Mode to choose, please see the Related FAQ's: "How do I know which receive mode to select?"
If you cannot change the Receive Mode, Distinctive Ring is currently on.
Follow these steps to turn Distinctive Ring off:
- Press the MENU key.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Fax.
- Press the OK key.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Miscellaneous.
- Press the OK key.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Distinctive.
- Press the OK key.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Off.
- Press the OK key.
- Press the STOP/EXIT key.
You should now be able to change the Receive Mode by following these steps:
- Press the MENU key.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Initial Setup.
- Press the OK key.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Receive Mode.
- Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to choose Fax Only, Fax/Tel, External TAD, or Manual.
- Press the OK key.
- Press the STOP/EXIT key.
