Scan a document and e-mail it as an attachment using the SCAN button on my Brother machine

You can scan a document directly into your default E-mail application and send the scanned data as an attachment by pressing the SCAN button on the control panel of your Brother machine.

If you want to change the scan settings, click here to see the details of how to change scan settings.

  1. Load your document.

  2. Press image(Scan).

  3. Swipe left or right to display image (to E-mail).

  4. Press image (to E-mail). The icon moves to the middle and is highlighted in blue.

  5. Press OK.

  6. (For network users)

    1. Swipe up or down, or press the Up or Down arrow key to display the destination computer you want to use to E-mail your document.
      Note:
      If the computer is not displayed, click here to see how to solve the issue.

    2. Press the destination computer name.

    3. If the LCD prompts you to enter a PIN number, enter the 4-digit PIN number for the destination computer on the LCD, and press OK.


  7. Do one of the following:

    • If you want to use the default settings, go to Step 13.

    • If you want to change the default settings, go to Step 8


  8. Press Options.

  9. Press Set with Touch Panel.

  10. Press ON.

    To use Set with Touch Panel, the ControlCenter software must be installed on a computer that is connected to the machine.


  11. Choose the settings for Scan Type, Resolution, File Type and Remove Background Color as needed.

  12. Press OK.

  13. Press Start.
    The machine starts scanning the document, creates a file attachment, and launches your E-mail application, displaying the new E-mail.
