I still receive the error message "Replace DrumX" or "Drum End SoonX" after I replace the drum unit with a new one.

The following error messages will continue to appear if the drum counter was not reset when you replace the drum unit with a new one.

  • Replace DrumX
  • Drum End SoonX

To clear these error messages, you need to reset the drum counter as instructed below.

Follow the steps below to reset the drum counter.

 

Please reset the drum counter only when you replace the drum unit. If you reset the drum counter during the life of the drum unit currently being used, the remaining drum life will not be displayed accurately.

  1. Press Cancel(Cancel) to interrupt the error.
  2. Press Settings(Settings).
  3. Press All Settings.
  4. Press the Up or Down arrow key to display Machine Info..

  5. Press Parts Life.
  6. Touch the dial pad area to light up the LEDs.

  7. Press # until the machine's display message changes.
  8. Press the color of the drum unit you replaced.
  9. Press Yes.
  10. Press Home(Home).

The Brother limited warranty does not apply to any problem that is caused by the use of unauthorized third party drum units, toner cartridges or toner.
