Yes, an original card from a previous version works on PE-DESIGN Ver.5, Ver.6, Ver.7 or Ver.8, but read only.

You can import embroidery patterns to the Design Page from that card on Ver.5, Ver.6, Ver.7 or Ver.8 but you cannot write your design to that card.

However the original card that comes in the full-package version of PE-DESIGN Ver. 4 can be written with PE-DESIGN Ver.5, Ver.6, Ver.7 or Ver.8.

When you want to write your designs to an original card, please use an original card enclosed with the product or an optional card of same type like the photo below.
