White spots or black spots at 1.5 in. (39 mm) intervals or random spots
Follow the steps below to resolve the issue.

The drum unit may have glue from a label stuck on the OPC drum surface. Clean the drum unit. Click here to see how to clean the drum unit.

Try making several pages of blank copies of a clean sheet of white paper to check if the issue is resolved. If the issue still remains, go to Step 3.

Follow the steps applicable for your case:

If the dot pattern repeats every 1.5 in. (39 mm) with about 7 - 8 dots down the page, the toner cartridge may be causing the issue, the toner cartridge needs to be replaced. Click here to see how to replace the toner cartridge.
Toner part numbers are TN-720 (standard yield) and TN-750 (high yield) TN-780 (Super High Yield). If the dots are appearing randomly on the page, check for loose toner inside the machine and around the drum area. A toner cartridge that is leaking or has leaked inside the machine will need to be replaced. Click here to see how to replace the toner cartridge. Do not remove the toner cartridge from the Brother machine until you are ready to replace it. Excess toner can be cleaned with a soft, dry, lint free cloth before replacing the cartridge. If you have a toner cartridge that is leaking, call Brother Customer Service at 1-877-Brother (1-877-276-8437) Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
