FAQs & Troubleshooting

Why does the display read "Cover Open"?

Complete the following steps to verify the drum and toner are inserted correctly, and the front cover is closed securely on both sides:

  1. Open the front cover by pressing the cover release button below the paper ejection tray, and pull the front cover towards you.
  2. Remove the drum unit by lifting it slightly and pulling it out.
  3. Place the drum unit in front of you with the blue tab on the right side. Remove the toner from the drum unit by holding down the lock lever (blue tab) on the right side of the drum unit and lift the toner out.

Handle the toner cartridge carefully. If toner scatters on your hands or clothes, immediately wash it off with cold water.

  1. Reinstall the toner into the drum, making sure it clicks into place.
  2. Reinstall the drum unit into the machine, giving it a slight nudge to make sure it is fully seated.
  3. Close the front cover by pressing firmly on each side until the cover clicks into place.
