Prevent public users from changing the settings of my Brother machine.
Setting Lock is a feature that lets you set a password to stop other people from accidentally changing your machine settings. While Setting Lock is on, the following features cannot be changed without a password:
- Mode Timer
- Paper
- Volume
- Ecology
- LCD Contrast
- Security
- Document Scan
- Address Book
- Dial Restrict
- Printer (Emulation*, 2-Sided/Duplex*, Reset Printer) *if applicable
- Network settings (except Status, Mac Address, Scan to FTP*, Scan to E-mail*) *if applicable
- Receive Mode
- Date&Time
- Station I.D.
- Tone/Pulse
- Dial Tone
- Dial Prefix
- Reset
This feature is useful if:
- You make extensive use of broadcast and automatic dialing capabilities. Locking the One-Touch, Speed Dial, and Group data ensures that fax broadcasts reach their proper destinations.
- You use fax reports to help manage your business. If you require Transmission Verification reports to be printed with your faxes or the Fax Activity report prints at specific intervals, then locking access to report printing settings assures the reports will print in the intervals you have set.
Use the following steps to set up and use the Setting Lock feature:
SETTING UP THE PASSWORD
- Press MENU and choose General Setup => Security => Setting Lock.
- Enter a four-digit number for the password.
- Press the OK key.
- Re-enter the password when the LCD reads "Verify."
- Press the OK key.
- Press the STOP/EXIT key.
- Make a careful note of your password. If you forget it, please contact Brother Customer Service from "Contact Us".
- You must set up a password before you can turn Setting Lock on.
- If you have already set the password, you will not need to set it again.
TURNING SETTING LOCK ON
- Press MENU and choose General Setup => Security => Setting Lock.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose On.
- Press the OK key.
- Enter your four-digit password.
- Press the OK key.
If you enter the wrong password, the LCD will show "Wrong Password." The Brother machine will stay in Setting Lock mode until you enter the registered password.
- Press the STOP/EXIT key.
TURNING SETTING LOCK OFF
- Press MENU and choose General Setup => Security => Setting Lock.
- Enter your four-digit password.
- Press the OK key.
- Press the OK key again.
If you enter the wrong password, the LCD will show "Wrong Password." The machine will stay in Setting Lock mode until you enter the registered password.
- Press the STOP/EXIT key.
CHANGING THE PASSWORD
- Press MENU and choose General Setup => Security => Setting Lock.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Set Password.
- Press the OK key.
- Enter your four-digit password.
- Press the OK key.
If you enter the wrong password, the LCD will show "Wrong Password." The machine will stay in Setting Lock mode until you enter the registered password.
- Enter a four-digit number for the new password.
- Press the OK key.
- Re-enter the new password when the LCD reads "Verify."
- Press the OK key.
- Press the STOP/EXIT key.
