Prevent unauthorized access to my Brother machine.

Memory Security lets you prevent unauthorized access to your Brother machine.


When Memory Security is on, the following operations are available:

  • Receiving faxes into memory (limited by the Brother machine's memory capacity)

  • Fax Forwarding (if Fax Forwarding was already on)

  • Paging (if Paging was already on) *if applicable

  • Remote Retrieval (if Fax Storage was already on)

When Memory Security is on, the following operations are not available:

  • Operation from the control panel

  • Printing received faxes

  • PC printing

  • PC Fax Receive

  • Disc Print

  • Printing with NFC

  • Scanning with NFC


  • You must turn PC Fax Receiving off before you can turn Memory Security on.

  • To print the faxes in memory, turn Memory Security off.

 

Setting up the password


Before you can turn Memory Security on, you must set a password.

 

Follow the steps below to program the Memory Security password:

  1. Press Settings(Settings).

  2. Press All Settings.

  3. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to display Fax.

  4. Press Fax.

  5. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to display Miscellaneous.

  6. Press Miscellaneous.

  7. Press Memory Security.

  8. Enter a 4-digit number for the password using the keyboard on the Touchscreen.

  9. Press OK.

  10. When the Touchscreen shows Verify, re-enter the password using the keyboard on the Touchscreen.

  11. Press OK.

  12. Press Home(Home).

Turning Memory Security on


Once you have programmed a password, follow the steps below to turn Memory Security on:

  1. Press Settings(Settings)

  2. Press All Settings.

  3. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to display Fax.

  4. Press Fax.

  5. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to display Miscellaneous.

  6. Press Miscellaneous.

  7. Press Memory Security.

  8. Press Set Security.

  9. Enter the registered 4-digit password using the keyboard on the Touchscreen.

  10. Press OK.

    The machine will go offline. The Touchscreen shows Memory Security.
If there is a power failure, the data in the machine's memory will remain for approximately 24 hours.

 

Turning Memory Security off


Follow the steps below to turn Memory Security off:

  1. Press Unlock on the screen.

  2. Enter the registered 4-digit password using the keyboard on the Touchscreen.

  3. Press OK.

    Memory Security will automatically be turned off. The Touchscreen will display the date and time.

If you enter the wrong password, the Touchscreen will display Wrong Password and the machine will stay offline. The machine will remain in Secure Mode until you enter the correct password.

 

Changing the password

Follow the steps below to change your Memory Security password:

  1. Press Settings(Settings)

  2. Press All Settings.

  3. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to display Fax.

  4. Press Fax.

  5. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to display Miscellaneous.

  6. Press Miscellaneous

  7. Press Memory Security.

  8. Press Set Password.

  9. Enter the registered 4-digit number for the current password using the keyboard on the Touchscreen.

  10. Press OK.

  11. Enter a 4-digit number for a new password using the keyboard on the Touchscreen.

  12. Press OK.

  13. When the Touchscreen shows Verify, re-enter the new password using the keyboard on the Touchscreen. Press OK.

  14. Press Home(Home).
