About the scan area calculation methods

  • Left aligned: The distance from the left edge of the scan area in the XSane preview.
  • Centrally aligned: The distance from the center to the left and right edges of the scan area in the XSane preview.

Precautions for using the scanner glass with brscan, brscan2, brscan3, or brscan4

  1. To use the scanner glass, the ADF must be empty. If a document is inserted into the ADF, the machine will scan from the ADF.
  2. The scan area is left-aligned.

Precautions for using the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) with brscan or brscan2

If you scan with XSane using the scanner glass, the scanning area is automatically left-aligned.

If you scan with XSane using the ADF, the scan area is centrally aligned and we recommend adjusting it manually.

  1. Place a document in the center of the scanner glass.
  2. Display a preview of the full scan area.
  3. Select the area of the document size.
  4. Insert the document into the ADF and start scanning.

To save the scan area setting, click "Add the selection for batch scan".

Precautions for using the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) with brscan3, brscan4, and brscan5

When you scan from the ADF, select "Automatic Document Feeder (Centrally aligned)" as the document source in the XSane Main Dialog Box.
