Program my Brother machine to automatically dial a predefined number before every fax number I dial.

You can use your Brother machine's Dial Prefix feature to automatically dial a predefined number before every fax you send.


For example, if your telephone system requires you to dial 9 to access an outside line, then you can program the Dial Prefix feature to automatically dial 9 every time you send a fax.


To program your Brother machine's Dial Prefix, follow these steps:
*If your Brother machine has a touchscreen, please follow the steps of "For Touchscreen models" below.
  1. Press the MENU key.

  2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Initial Setup.

  3. Press the OK key.

  4. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Dial Prefix.

  5. Press the OK key.

  6. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose On and press the OK key.
    (This step might be skipped in some models.)

  7. Use the dial pad to enter the prefix you want your Brother machine to dial automatically.

    • The Prefix can be up to 5 digits long.

    • You can use numbers 0 to 9, #, *, and !.

    • Press the HOOK key to choose !.

    • You cannot use ! with any other numbers.

    • To access an outside line, press !.

  8. Press the OK key.

  9. Press the STOP/EXIT key.
<For Touchscreen models>

  1. Press MENU.

  2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to display Initial Setup.

  3. Press Initial Setup.

  4. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to display Dial Prefix.

  5. Press Dial Prefix.

  6. Press On.

  7. Press Dial Prefix.

  8. Use the touchscreen button to enter the prefix you want your Brother machine to dial automatically.

    • The Prefix can be up to 5 digits long.

    • You cannot use ! with any other numbers.

    • To access an outside line, press !.

  9. Press the OK

  10. Press Stop/Exit.
