Most Brother models offer support for Microsoft® Windows® 8/8.1. When using your Brother machine in Windows® 8/8.1, you must use the driver/utility that is compatible with Windows® 8/8.1. See the driver support information for each model and utlity support information.

Driver Support Information

There are two types of drivers compatible with Microsoft® Windows® 8/8.1.

Brother original drivers are developed by Brother. These drivers have the full driver functionality with Brother features.

For the latest drivers, we recommend using the "Go" links in the chart below to take you to the download page for your model on the Brother Solutions Center.

The built-in drivers are already included with Windows® 8/8.1 or are available through Windows® update. These drivers are also referred to as "in-box drivers" or "in-OS drivers". The built-in drivers support the basic functions of your Brother machine: printing and scanning *1.
