Scan to FTP (For MFC-5890CN, MFC-5895CW and MFC-6490CW)

When you choose Scan to FTP, you can scan a black and white or color document directly to an FTP server on your local network or on the internet.
The details required to use Scan to FTP can be entered manually at the control panel to pre-configure and store the details in an FTP Profile. You can configure up to five FTP server profiles.

Pre-configuring your FTP profiles

Press Menu.

Press Bsymbol.utri or Bsymbol.dtri to choose Network.
Press OK.

Press Bsymbol.utri or Bsymbol.dtri to choose Scan to FTP.
Press OK.

Press Bsymbol.utri or Bsymbol.dtri to choose Setup Profile.
Press OK.

Press Bsymbol.utri or Bsymbol.dtri to choose Not Registered.
Press OK.

Press Bsymbol.utri or Bsymbol.dtri to choose Profile Name.
Press OK.

Enter the name that you want to use for the profile of the FTP server. This name will be displayed on the LCD of the machine and can be up to 30 characters.
Press OK.

Press Bsymbol.utri or Bsymbol.dtri to choose Host Address.
Press OK.

Enter the Host Address (for example ftp.example.com) (up to 60 characters) or the IP address (for example 192.23.56.189).
Press OK.

Press OK.

Enter the destination folder where your document will be stored on the FTP server (for example /brother/abc/) (up to 60 characters).
Press OK.

Press OK.

Enter the Username that has been registered with the FTP server for the machine (up to 32 characters).
Press OK.

Press Bsymbol.utri or Bsymbol.dtri to choose Password.
Press OK.

Enter the Password for access to the FTP server (up to 32 characters).
Press OK.

Press Bsymbol.utri or Bsymbol.dtri to choose Quality.
Press OK.

Press Bsymbol.utri or Bsymbol.dtri to choose Color 150 dpi, Color 300 dpi, Color 600 dpi, B/W 200 dpi or B/W 200x100 dpi.
Press OK.

Choose the file type for the document. Press Bsymbol.utri or Bsymbol.dtri to choose File Type.
Press OK.

Press Bsymbol.utri or Bsymbol.dtri to choose PDF or JPEG for color or gray scale documents and PDF or TIFF for B/W documents.

For MFC-6490CW
If you are using the scanner glass of the machine, choose the document size.
Press Bsymbol.utri or Bsymbol.dtri to choose Glass ScanSize.
Press Bsymbol.ltri or Bsymbol.rtri to choose Letter, Legal, Ledger, A4 or A3.
Press OK.

Press Bsymbol.utri or Bsymbol.dtri to choose Passive Mode.
You can set Passive Mode to OFF or ON depending on your FTP server and network firewall configuration. By default this setting is ON.

Press Bsymbol.ltri or Bsymbol.rtri to choose On or Off.
Press OK.

Press Bsymbol.utri or Bsymbol.dtri to choose Port Number.
You can change the port number used to access the FTP server. The default for this setting is port 21. In most cases these two settings can remain as default.

Enter the port number.
Press OK.

Choose the file name you want to use for the scanned document. You can choose from seven preset and two user defined File Names. The file name that will be used for your document will be the file name you selected plus the last 6 digits of the flatbed/ADF scanner counter plus the file extension (For example, BRNxxxxxxxxxxxx098765.pdf). You can also manually enter a File Name up to 15 characters.
Press Bsymbol.utri or Bsymbol.dtri to choose File Name.
Press OK.

Press Bsymbol.utri or Bsymbol.dtri to choose the file name you want to use.
Press OK.

After you have set all the settings, press Bsymbol.utri or Bsymbol.dtri to choose Complete.
Press OK.
Press Stop/Exit.
