Scan to an Editable Text File (OCR)

Your machine can convert characters in a scanned document to text data by using optical character recognition (OCR) technology. This text can be edited using your favourite word processing software.
Note Note
Presto! PageManager must be installed from the supplied DVD-ROM on your computer.
The Scan to OCR function is available for English, French, German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Danish, Swedish, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and Korean.
You can change the OCR Language with the OCR Language drop-down list in the setting dialog box for Scan to OCR action.

Click the Graphic (ControlCenter2) icon in the menu bar and then select Open.
The ControlCenter2 window will appear.
Note Note
If the Graphic (ControlCenter2) icon is not displayed in the menu bar, double-click the ControlCenter icon.
The ControlCenter icon is in Macintosh HD/Applications/Brother.
The Graphic (ControlCenter2) icon will appear in the menu bar.

Click the DEVICE SETTINGS tab.

Click the Scan to PC Settings button. The Remote Setup window will appear.

Select OCR from the drop-down list.

Click the OK button to close the Remote Setup window.

Click the SCAN tab on the ControlCenter2 window.

Click the OCR button while holding down the Control key. The Scan To OCR dialog box will appear.

Click the Device Button tab.

Change other settings if needed (see Change Scan Settings).

Load your document.

Press Scan to PC. The machine scans the document, converts it into editable text, then sends it to your default word processing application.
