Configuring Your Printer for Printing on Custom-Size Paper (the Paper is Not Registered in the Printer)
Overview
Use the Paper Size Setup Tool in the following cases.
- Add a paper size not included in the Paper Size list of the printer driver
- Use custom-size paper in Mobile SDK
- Use ESC/P commands
Configure the settings with Pager Size Setup
To print on paper (label, receipt) other than Brother genuine paper, you need to add the paper information to the printer driver or register it in the printer.
Use Paper Size Setup Tool to configure and register the paper information.
Start Paper Size Setup
- 1. From the support website, download Printer Setting Tool. (Supported models only)
- 2. After starting Printer Setting Tool, click Paper Size Setup to start Paper Size Setup Tool.
Note:
For TD-4000/4100N, perform the following steps.
- 1. From Control Panel, open Devices and Printers.
- 2. Select the desired printer and right-click the icon before clicking Printer Properties.
- 3. The print settings dialog box appears. Click Paper Size Setup to start it.
How to use Paper Size Setup
Paper Size Setup of Printer Setting Tool allows adding paper sizes not included in the Paper Size list.
To add a paper size to your printer, you need to send the paper format to the printer unlike configuring the printer for normal paper.
Printing with a paper format not registered in the printer can result in an unintended print result.
| Current settings | Displays the current settings for the selected paper format. |

| New | Click this button to display the New dialog box and register a new paper format. |
| Edit | Edits the settings for the selected paper format. To save the selected paper format with the new settings, click Overwrite. To add a paper format with the new settings, change the name in the Paper Size Name box, and then click Add. |
| Delete | Deletes the selected paper format. A deleted paper format cannot be restored. |
| Import | Reads the text file containing the paper format settings, and uses it to replace the contents of the Currently Registered Paper Sizes list. |
| Export | Exports the paper formats in the Currently Registered Paper Sizes list to a file. The exported formats can then be distributed to other computers. |
| Exit | Exits Paper Size Setup, and returns to the main window of the Printer Setting Tool. |
| Option | Click the  button, and then select an operation.Click Register Paper Size With Printer to register the settings for the selected paper format in your printer. Click Save in Command File to export the paper settings as a command file. (The file extension is ".bin".) |
To Use Custom-Size Paper for Brother Print SDK for iPhone/ iPad and Brother Print SDK for Android™
Save the data in a command file with the paper size setup tool for Windows and then import the custom paper information (*.bin) into the project.
No paper size setup tool for Mac is available.
