Prevent unauthorized access to my Brother machine.

TX Lock lets you prevent unauthorized access to your Brother machine.


When TX Lock is on, the following operation is available:

  • Receiving faxes


When TX Lock is on, the following operations are not available:

  • Sending faxes

  • Copying

  • PC printing

  • Scanning

  • Operation from the control panel


SETTING UP THE PASSWORD

Before you can turn TX Lock on, you must set a password.




To program the TX Lock password, follow these steps:

  1. Press the MENU key.

  2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Fax.

  3. Press the OK key.

  4. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Miscellaneous.

  5. Press the OK key.

  6. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose TX Lock.

  7. Press the OK key.

  8. Enter a four-digit, numerical password.

  9. Press the OK key.

    • The LCD will read Verify.


  10. Re-enter the password.

  11. Press the OK key.

  12. Press the STOP/EXIT key.



TURNING TX LOCK ON

Once you have programmed a password, follow these steps to turn TX Lock on:

  1. Press the MENU key.

  2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Fax.

  3. Press the OK key.

  4. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Miscellaneous.

  5. Press the OK key.

  6. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose TX Lock.

  7. Press the OK key.

  8. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Set TX Lock.

  9. Press the OK key.

  10. Enter the four-digit password.

  11. Press the OK key.

    The Brother machine will go offline. Its LCD will read "TX Lock Mode".


TURNING TX LOCK OFF

To turn TX Lock off, follow these steps:

  1. Press the MENU key.

  2. Enter the four-digit password.

  3. Press the OK key.

    TX Lock will automatically be turned off. The machine's LCD will display the date and time.

    If you enter the wrong password, the LCD will display Wrong Password and the machine will stay offline. The Brother machine will remain in TX Lock Mode until you enter the correct password.





CHANGING THE PASSWORD

To change your TX Lock password, follow these steps:

  1. Press the MENU key.

  2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Fax.

  3. Press the OK key.

  4. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Miscellaneous.

  5. Press the OK key.

  6. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose TX Lock.

  7. Press the OK key.

  8. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Set Password.

  9. Press the OK key.

  10. Enter the current four-digit password.

  11. Press the OK key.

  12. Enter a new four-digit password.

  13. Press the OK key.

    • The LCD will read Verify.


  14. Press the OK key.

  15. Press the STOP/EXIT key.
