Can I reduce the size of a received fax to fit the size of the paper in the Brother machine?


  • Turning on Auto Reduction will automatically reduce the size of an incoming fax to fit the size of the paper in your machine. To set Auto Reduction mode ON, follow the instructions listed below:
  1. If the FAX mode key is not illuminated, press it.
  2. Press the Menu key on the control panel.
  3. Press the Up or Down Arrow key until Fax appears on the LCD and press OK.
  4. Press the Up or Down Arrow key until Setup Receive appears and press OK.
  5. Press the Up or Down Arrow key until Auto Reduction appears and press OK.
  6. Press the Up or Down Arrow key until ON (or OFF) appears and  press OK.
  7. Press Stop/Exit.
  • The machine calculates the reduction ratio by using the page size of the fax and the Paper Size setting.
    Verify the Paper Size is set correctly by follow the instructions listed below:
  1. Press the Menu key.
  2. Press the Up or Down Arrow key until General Setup appears on the LCD and press OK.
  3. Press the Up or Down Arrow key until Paper Size appears and press OK.
  4. Press the Up or Down Arrow key to select the correct size and press OK.
  5. Press Stop/Exit.
