Stop my Brother machine from automatically redialing a busy number.

If you are sending a fax automatically and the recipient's line is busy, your machine will automatically redial that number up to three times at five-minute intervals. If the number is still busy when your Brother machine redials it, you must re-send the fax.

The machine will automatically redial only if it detects a busy signal on the recipient's line.

If you are sending a fax manually (by lifting the machine's handset or pressing its Hook key, listening for the fax tones, and then pressing the Fax Start key to send) and the recipient's line is busy, your machine will not automatically redial the number.

Canceling automatic redial

To stop your machine from automatically redialing, follow these steps:

  1. Press Menu, 2 (Fax), 6 (Remaining Jobs).

    • The LCD will display any numbers awaiting redial.

    • If no jobs are awaiting redial, the LCD will read No Job Waiting.

  2. Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to select the number you want to stop the machine from redialing.

  3. Press the Set key.

  4. Do one of the following:

    • Press 1 to cancel the job.

    • Press 2 to exit without canceling the job.

  5. Press the Stop/Exit key.

If you hear the machine start to redial a number and you wish to cancel the redialing, follow these steps:

  1. Press the Stop/Exit key.

  2. Press 1 to select Cancel.
