How can I clear the "PLS OPEN COVER" error message on LCD?

  • A piece of paper or other item such as a paper clip may be jammed inside the machine.

    Open the control panel/ the top cover or the scanner cover/ the ADF cover. If you see any jammed paper or another item inside this area, gently pull it out and then close the top cover and control panel securely.

    If the error message continues, open and close the control panel and top cover again. If the FAX/MFC cannot reset itself and return to the date and time prompt, it will display Machine Error XX. Please call Brother Customer Service and tell them the Machine Error number.
     
  • Make sure that the ink cartridges are inserted correctly into the carriage by pressing until they click as shown.

 

Brother has developed a Firmware Update Tool that improves the efficiency of the cleaning cycles and alters the programmed time of the cleaning cycles from 11:00 pm to 11:00 am. Improving the efficiency of the cleaning cycles will extend the life of the ink cartridges when there is very little use of the machine or a particular color ink cartridge.
