What format are the attachments when a document is scanned to an e-mail address and is a special viewer needed?

You can choose from several file formats when using the Scan to E-mail feature.

If you select TIFF, JPEG or the PDF file attachment format, you don't need a special viewer.

  • Windows® 95/98/Me/NT/2000 users:
    Paint, Imaging, (Adobe® Acrobat®, Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® or Adobe® Reader®)
  • Windows® XP users:
    Paint, (Adobe® Acrobat®, Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® or Adobe®  Reader®)

You can download free "Adobe® Reader®" software to view the PDF file from the Adobe's web site.

PDF file format is only supported on certain models using the Ethernet or wireless network connection. Please return to the specification in your User's Guide. Color Scan to E-mail is only supported on machines with color scanner capability. Please check your User's Guide. If you scan to PaperPort® and E-mail as an attachment, the file is a Paperport.MAX file. If the E-mail image is not converted, the receiving person will not be able to open the files unless they have PaperPort®.
