Change the number of times my Brother machine rings before it answers.

The Ring Delay setting determines the number of times your Brother machine rings before it answers in Fax Only or Fax/Tel Mode. If your Brother machine shares a line with other telephones or if you subscribe to your telephone company's Distinctive Ring service, you should choose the maximum number of rings.

Follow the steps below to change your Brother machine's Ring Delay setting:

  1. Press Menu.

  2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Fax.

  3. Press OK.

  4. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Setup Receive.

  5. Press OK.

  6. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Ring Delay.

  7. Press OK.

  8. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose how many times the line will ring before the Brother machine answers it.

    • The number you can choose varies depending on the model and country you bought the machine in.

    • If you choose 0, the line will not ring at all.

  9. Press OK.

  10. Press Stop/Exit.
