Follow the steps below to solve the paper feed problem.

Firstly verify if an error message is NOT displayed on the machine's display (hereinafter called LCD). If the LCD displays an error message, search for the message displayed and follow the solutions related to that error message.

• Printing from the manual feed slot

Printing from the Paper Tray #1 or Paper Tray #2

1. Check the paper you are using meets the paper specifications. Click here to see the details of recommended paper.
   
   
2. Unplug the machine from the AC power outlet (electrical socket).
   
   
3. Reset the paper in the tray. Click here to see details of how to load paper in paper tray.
   
   
4. Re-connect the power cord.
   
   If any error message appears, search for the specific error and follow the solution related to that error message.
   
   
5. Confirm that the machine is operating correctly by making a blank, multiple page copy from the indicated tray.
   
   * If your Brother machine has a touchscreen, please follow the steps under "For touchscreen models" below.
   
   
   1. Lift the document cover and check the flatbed glass to verify that there is no document on the scanner. Remove any documents found.
      
      
   2. Press COPY to illuminate it.
      
      
   3. Press 1, 0 on the dial pad.
      
      
      • If your machine has the second paper tray (Tray #2), go to STEP d.
        
        
      • If NOT, go to STEP f.
      
      
   4. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Tray Select.
      
      
   5. Press the Left or Right arrow key to choose Tray #1 or Tray #2, depending on which tray you are using and press OK.
      
      
   6. Press Black (Mono) Start. The machine will generate 10 blank copies fed from the chose tray.
      
      
      • If all 10 blank pages are fed successfully the problem is solved.
        
        
      • If any of the pages multifeed, please contact Brother Customer Service from "Contact Us".
        
        
      • If any other error message appears, search for and follow the solution related to that error message.
   
   <For touchscreen models>
   
   
   1. Lift the document cover and check the flatbed glass to verify that there is no document on the scanner. Remove any documents found.
      
      
   2. Press COPY to illuminate it.
      
      
   3. Press 1, 0 on the dial pad.
      
      
   4. Press the Left or Right arrow key to display Tray Select.
      
      
   5. Press Tray Select.
      
      
   6. Press Tray #1 or Tray #2, depending on which tray you are using.
      
      
   7. Press Black (Mono) Start. The machine will generate 10 blank copies fed from the chose tray.
      
      
      • If all 10 blank pages are fed successfully the problem is solved.
        
        
      • If any of the pages multifeed, please contact Brother Customer Service from "Contact Us".
        
        
      • If any other error message appears, search for and follow the solution related to that error message.

Printing from the Manual Feed Slot

1. Check the paper you are using meets the paper specifications. Click here to see the details of recommended paper.
   
   
2. The manual feed slot can only feed one sheet of paper at a time. Confirm only one sheet is being loaded in the manual feed slot.
   
   If you are printing a multi-page document using the manual feed slot, you must not load a second sheet into the manual feed slot until prompted to do so by the LCD.
