Store numbers on my Brother machine for easy dialing.

You can store One Touch and Speed Dial numbers on your Brother machine for easy dialing. If you lose electrical power, One Touch and Speed Dial numbers stored in your Brother machine's memory will not be lost.


 

SECTION A: STORING ONE TOUCH NUMBERS

Your Brother machine has 20 One Touch keys on which you can store up to 40 fax numbers, telephone numbers, or e-mail addresses for automatic sending.



To store One Touch numbers, follow these steps:
  1. Press the ONE TOUCH key on which you want to store a number or e-mail address.

    To access One Touch numbers 21 through 40, hold down the SHIFT key and press the appropriate One Touch key.

  2. Press 1.

  3. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose the type of number you are storing.

    You can choose FAX/TEL, E-MAIL, or IFAX.

  4. Press the OK key.

  5. Do one of the following:

    • If you chose FAX/TEL in STEP 3, use the dial pad to enter the fax or telephone number you want to store.

      The number can be up to 20 digits long.

      You can use the REDIAL/PAUSE key to insert a 3.5-second (for UK: 2.8-second) pause in the stored number.

      You can enter multiple pauses by repeatedly pressing the REDIAL/PAUSE key.

    • If you chose E-MAIL or IFAX in STEP 3, use the dial pad to enter the e-mail address you want to store.

      The e-mail address can be up to 60 characters long.

    • If you chose E-MAIL in STEP 3 and stored an e-mail address on the One Touch key, you can only use the e-mail address when the Brother machine is in Scan Mode.

    • If you chose IFAX in STEP 3 and stored an e-mail address on the One Touch key, you can only use the e-mail address when the Brother machine is in Fax Mode.

     

  6. Press the OK key.

  7. Do one of the following:

    • To store the number or email address without a name, go to STEP 8.

    • Use the dial pad to enter a name.

      The name can be up to 15 characters long.

  8. Press the OK key.

  9. Do one of the following:

    • If you do not want to change the default fax/scan resolution, go to STEP 11.

    • If you chose FAX/TEL in STEP 3 and want to save a fax/scan resolution with the number, follow these steps:

      1. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose STD, FINE, S. FINE, or PHOTO.

      2. Press the OK key.

      3. Go to STEP 12.

    • If you chose E-MAIL in STEP 3 and want to save a fax/scan resolution with the e-mail address, follow these steps:

      1. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose COLOR100DPI, COLOR200DPI, COLOR300DPI, COLOR600DPI, GRAY100DPI, GRAY200DPI, GRAY300DPI, B&W200DPI, or B&W200x100.

      2. Press the OK key.

      3. Go to STEP 10.

    • If you chose IFAX in STEP 3 and want to save a fax/scan resolution with the number, follow these steps:

      1. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose STD, FINE, or PHOTO.

      2. Press the OK key.

      3. Go to STEP 12.

  10. Do one of the following:

    • If you chose a Black & White resolution setting in STEP 9, press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose the file format that will be used to send to your PC.

      You can choose TIFF, PDF, or SECURE PDF.

    • If you chose a Grayscale or Color resolution setting in STEP 9, press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose the file format that will be used to send to your PC.

      You can choose PDF, SECURE PDF, JPEG, or XPS.

  11. Press the OK key.

  12. Do one of the following:

    • To store another One Touch number, repeat STEPS 1 through 11.

    • To finish storing One Touch numbers, press the STOP/EXIT key.

 

SECTION B: STORING SPEED DIAL NUMBERS

You can store up to 300 3-digit Speed Dial numbers on your Brother machine.



To store Speed Dial numbers, follow these steps:
  1. Press and hold the SHIFT key.

  2. Press the SEARCH/SPEED DIAL key.

  3. Release the SHIFT key.

  4. Use the dial pad to enter the three-digit Speed Dial location on which you want to store a number.

    You can use numbers 001-300.

  5. Press 1.

  6. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose the type of number you are storing.

    You can choose FAX/TEL, E-MAIL, or IFAX.

  7. Press the OK key.

  8. Do one of the following:

    • If you chose FAX/TEL in STEP 6, use the dial pad to enter the fax or telephone number you want to store.

      The number can be up to 20 digits long.

      You can use the REDIAL/PAUSE key to insert a 3.5-second (for UK: 2.8-second) pause in the stored number.

      You can enter multiple pauses by repeatedly pressing the REDIAL/PAUSE key.

    • If you chose E-MAIL or IFAX in STEP 6, use the dial pad to enter the e-mail address you want to store.

      The e-mail address can be up to 60 characters long.

    • If you chose E-MAIL in STEP 6 and stored an e-mail address on the Speed Dial location, you can only use the e-mail address when the Brother machine is in Scan Mode.

    • If you chose IFAX in STEP 6 and stored an e-mail address on the Speed Dial location, you can only use the e-mail address when the Brother machine is in Fax Mode.

     

  9. Press the OK key.

  10. Do one of the following:

    • To store the number or email address without a name, go to STEP 11.

    • Use the dial pad to enter a name.

      The name can be up to 15 characters long.

  11. Press the OK key.

  12. Do one of the following:

    • If you do not want to change the default fax/scan resolution, go to STEP 14.

    • If you chose FAX/TEL in STEP 6 and want to save a fax/scan resolution with the number, follow these steps:

      1. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose STD, FINE, S. FINE, or PHOTO.

      2. Press the OK key.

      3. Go to STEP 15.

    • If you chose E-MAIL in STEP 6 and want to save a fax/scan resolution with the e-mail address, follow these steps:

      1. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose COLOR100DPI, COLOR200DPI, COLOR300DPI, COLOR600DPI, GRAY100DPI, GRAY200DPI, GRAY300DPI, B&W200DPI, or B&W200x100.

      2. Press the OK key.

      3. Go to STEP 13.

    • If you chose IFAX in STEP 6 and want to save a fax/scan resolution with the number, follow these steps:

      1. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose STD, FINE, or PHOTO.

      2. Press the OK key.

      3. Go to STEP 15.

  13. Do one of the following:

    • If you chose a Black & White resolution setting in STEP 12, press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose the file format that will be used to send to your PC.

      You can choose TIFF, PDF, or SECURE PDF.

    • If you chose a Grayscale or Color resolution setting in STEP 12, press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose the file format that will be used to send to your PC.

      You can choose PDF, SECURE PDF, JPEG, or XPS.

  14. Press the OK key.

  15. Do one of the following:

    • To store another Speed Dial number, repeat STEPS 1 through 14.

    • To finish storing Speed Dial numbers, press the STOP/EXIT key.
