What do the indicator light mean?

The LED indicator lights up or flashes to show the status of the printer. The following illustrations indicate the meanings of colors and flashing patterns of the LED indicator.

Lit in green / "Lit in red LED indicator lights up in the color shown.
Flashing in green /  Flashing in red  /  Flashing in orange LED indicator flashes in the color shown.
* The flashing patterns depend on the status shown in the table below.

 

LED Solution
Lit in green - Label printer is connected via Bluetooth®.
- The tape is feeding.
- Printing
Flashing in green
(Lit for 3 seconds. ->
Off for 1 second.)

The label printer is powered on and standby.

For Android™ users :
If the LED light is flashing green even after the connection between the printer and the mobile device is completed, check the following:

  1. Is the LED light flashing while the printer and the mobile device are connected?
    ->> The LED light stops flashing and remains lit when printing starts.  
     
  2. Are the printer and the mobile device connected correctly?
    ->> To see how to connect the printer and the mobile device, refer to "How can I connect my mobile device to the printer? (P-touch Design&Print)".
Flashing in green
(1 time for 0.5 seconds)
The unit is receiving data from your smartphone or tablet.
"Lit in red The label printer is booting. In the event that Booting occurs due to the failure of transferring the program, the system will recover if the program is transferred again. Follow operation procedures of the application.
If the problem remains unsolved, turn the printer off and on. If the problem still occurs, contact your Brother dealer or Brother customer service for assistance.
Flashing in red
(1 time for 1 second)

First, press the Power Button to clear the error.
Then check the following:

  1. Is the correct cassette installed?
    Check that the correct type and size of tape is installed.
  2. Is the cassette installed correctly?
    If not, remove the cassette, and then reinstall it.
    See “How do I set a tape cassette?” for more information.
  3. Check if the tape width specified in the application matches the tape that is installed.
    If not, install a correct tape cassette.
  4. Check that the compatible AC adapter is used.
    If not, connect the compatible AC adapter (bundled or optional).
  5. Did you press the tape cutter lever during printing?
    Do not press the tape cutter lever before printing is finished. See "The printer stops printing, the power LED blinks in red, and my mobile device displays an error message." for more information.
  6. Data transfer from your mobile device to the printer was interrupted.
    Turn the printer off and on, and try sending the label from your mobile device to the printer again.
Flashing in red
(1 time for 0.5 seconds)
Try turning the printer off and on. If the problem remains unsolved, contact your Brother dealer or Brother customer service for assistance.
Flashing in orange
(1 time for 1 second)
The batteries are almost out of power.
Replace the batteries with new ones or connect the AC adapter.
