Confirm that a FAX I sent was received correctly.

You can use the Transmission Verification Report and Fax Journal (Activity Report) as confirmation that you sent a fax.

Transmission Verification Report:
You can use the Transmission Verification Report as proof that you sent a fax. This report lists the receiving party's name or fax number, the time and date of transmission, duration of transmission, number of pages sent, and whether or not the transmission was successful.

There are several settings available for the Transmission Verification Report:

  • On: Prints a report after every fax you send.
  • On+Image: Prints a report after every fax you send. A portion of the fax's first page appears on the report.
  • Off: Prints a report if your fax is unsuccessful due to a transmission error. Off is the factory setting.
  • Off+Image: Prints a report if your fax is unsuccessful due to a transmission error. A portion of the fax's first page appears on the report.
  • No Report: Your Brother machine does not print any reports after sending faxes.

To program the Transmission Verification Report, follow the steps listed below.

  1. Press Settings(Settings) > All Settings > Fax > Report Setting > Transmission or XMIT Report.
  2. Press the option you want.

If you choose On+Image or Off+Image, the image will not appear on the Transmission Verification Report if Real Time Transmission is set to On.

  3. Press Home(Home).

    • If the transmission is successful, OK appears next to RESULT on the Transmission Verification Report.
    • If the transmission is not successful, NG appears next to RESULT.

Fax Journal (Activity Report):
You can also use the Fax Journal (activity report) which lists the last 200 incoming and outgoing faxes.

You can program the machine to print the report at regular intervals (every 50 faxes; every 6, 12, or 24 hours; every 2 or 7 days) and you can print the report on demand.

To set the report interval, follow the steps listed below.

  1. Press Settings(Settings) > All Settings > Fax > Report Setting > Journal Period > Journal Period.
  2. Press the Up or Down arrow key to display the options of the intervals.
  3. Press the interval you want to set.

    • Every 6, 12, 24 hours, 2 or 7 days:
The machine will print the report at the chosen time and then erase all jobs from its memory.
If the machine's memory becomes full with 200 jobs before the time you chose has passed, the machine will print the Fax Journal report early and then erase all jobs from the memory. If you want an extra report before it is due to print, you can print it without erasing the jobs from the memory. Click here to see how to print the Fax Journal report on demand.

    • Every 50 Faxes:
The machine will print the Fax Journal report when the machine has stored 50 jobs.

  4. Do one of the following:

    • If you chose Every 50 Faxes:
      Go to STEP 5.

    • If you chose Every 6, 12, 24 hours or 2 Days:
Press Time and enter the time using the LCD, and then press OK.

    • If you chose Every 7 Days:

Press the Up or Down arrow key to display the day of the week and then press the first day of the 7-day countdown.

  5. Press Home(Home).
