A data transmission error appears on the computer when trying to print a label.

  1. Check that the correct port is selected.

    • Using P-touch Editor, select File … Printer/Page Setup. Verify that the selected printer is the correct one (Brother QL-500 or QL-550). If not, use the pull-down menu to select the Brother QL printer.

    • Using P-touch Add-Ins, select the Page Settings icon. Choose the Printer Setup Tab and verify that the selected printer is the correct one (Brother QL-500 or QL-550). If not, use the pull-down menu to select the Brother QL printer (QL-500 or QL-550)

  2. Check if the QL-500 or QL-550 is in cooling mode. If the LED lamp is flashing slowly, the QL-500 or QL-550 is in cooling mode. Wait until the LED lamp stops flashing and then try printing again.
