Change the quality of the faxes I send (Fax Resolution).
You can adjust the Brother machine's fax resolution setting to improve the quality of your sent faxes.
Follow the steps applicable for your case.
- To change the Fax Resolution setting for the next fax only, go to Case A: Changing Fax Resolution for the next fax only.

To change the Brother machine's default Fax Resolution setting, go to Case B: Changing the default Fax Resolution.
Case A: Change the Fax Resolution setting for the next fax only
To change the fax resolution setting for your next sent fax, follow these steps:

Do one of the following:
- Place the document you want to send into the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) face up, top edge first until you feel it touch the roller.
- Place the first page you want to send face down in the upper-left corner of the flat scanner glass.

Press
(Fax).

Do one of the following:

If
(Sending Faxes) appears on the LCD, press it.

If
(Sending Faxes) does not appear on the LCD, go to Step 4.

If

Press Options.
-
Press the Up or Down arrow key to display Fax Resolution.

Press Fax Resolution.

Press the Up or Down arrow key to display the fax-resolution options.

You can choose four different resolution settings for black and white faxes:
Standard Suitable for most typed documents Fine Good for small print. Transmits a little more slowly than Standard resolution. S.Fine Good for small print or artwork. Transmits a little more slowly than Fine resolution. Photo Good for photographs and documents that have varying shades of gray. Photo resolution has the slowest transmission speed. -
You can choose two different resolution settings for color faxes:
Standard Suitable for most typed documents Fine Good for small print. Transmits a little more slowly than Standard resolution. If you choose S.Fine or Photo and then send a color fax, the machine will send the fax using the Fine resolution setting.

You can choose four different resolution settings for black and white faxes:

Press Standard, Fine, S.Fine, or Photo.

Press OK.

Dial a fax number.

Press Fax Start.
Case B: Changing the default Fax Resolution
To change the Brother machine's default fax resolution setting, follow these steps:

Press
(Fax).

Do one of the following:

If
(Sending Faxes) appears on the LCD, press it.

If
(Sending Faxes) does not appear on the LCD, go to Step 3.

Press Options.

Press the Up or Down arrow key to display Fax Resolution.

Press Fax Resolution.

Press the Up or Down arrow key to display the fax-resolution options.

Press the Up or Down arrow key to display Set New Default.

Press Set New Default.

Press Yes.
