You can scan a document directly into your graphics application for viewing and editing by pressing the SCAN key on the control panel of your Brother machine.

* If your Brother machine has a touchscreen, please follow the steps under "For touchscreen models" below.

1. Load your document.
2. Press SCAN.
3. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Scan to Image.
4. Press OK.
5. (For network users)
   1. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose the destination computer you want to send to.
      Note:
      If the computer is not displayed, click here to see how to solve the issue.
   2. Press OK.
   3. If the LCD prompts you to enter a PIN number, enter the 4-digit PIN number for the destination computer on the control panel and press OK.
6. Press Black (Mono) Start or Color (Colour) Start. The image data will appear in your pre-selected graphics application.

<For touch screen models>

1. Load your document.
   If you want to use 2-sided (duplex) scanning, load your document face up, top edge first in the ADF.
2. Press SCAN.
3. Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to display to Image.
4. Press to Image.
5. (For network users)
   1. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to display the destination computer you want to send to.
      Note:
      If the computer is not displayed, click here to see how to solve the issue.
   2. Press the destination computer and press OK.
   3. If the LCD prompts you to enter a PIN number, enter the 4-digit PIN number for the destination computer on the control panel, and press OK.
6. Do one of the following:
   • If you want to use 2-sided (duplex) scanning, go to STEP 7.
   • If you do not want to use 2-sided (duplex) scanning, go to STEP 8.
7. Press Duplex Scan and then press DuplexScan :LongEdge or DuplexScan :ShortEdge. Go to STEP 8.
8. Press Black (Mono) Start or Color (Colour) Start. The image data will appear in your pre-selected graphics application.
