The message "DR Mode in Use" is displayed on my Brother machine.

If the "DR Mode in Use" message appears on the LCD when you try to change your Receive Mode, Distinctive Ring is currently on. When Distinctive Ring is on, the machine will automatically stay in Manual Mode. You cannot change your Brother machine's Receive Mode until you turn Distinctive Ring off.

To turn Distinctive Ring off, follow these steps:

  1. Press Menu.

  2. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose FAX.

  3. Press OK.

  4. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Miscellaneous.

  5. Press OK.

  6. Press the Up or DOWN arrow key to choose Distinctive.

  7. Press OK.

  8. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Off.

  9. Press OK.

  10. Press Stop/Exit.

If your turn Distinctive Ring off, your Brother machine will be in Manual Mode. You will need to choose the correct Receive Mode for your line setup.
