Scan a document and e-mail it as an attachment using the SCAN key on my Brother machine
You can scan a document directly into your default E-mail application and send the scanned data as an attachment by pressing the SCAN key on the control panel of your Brother machine.
* If your Brother machine has a touchscreen, please follow the steps under "For touchscreen models" below.

If you want to change the scan settings, click here to see the details of how to change scan settings.
- Load your document.
- Press SCAN.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Scan to E-mail.
- Press OK.
- (For network users)
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose PC.
- Press OK.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose the destination computer you want to use for E-mailing your document.
Note:
If the computer is not displayed, click here to see how to solve the issue. - Press OK.
- If the LCD prompts you to enter a PIN number, enter the 4-digit PIN number for the destination computer on the control panel and press OK.
- Press Black (Mono) Start or Color (Colour) Start.
The machine starts scanning the document, creates a file attachment, and launches your E-mail application, displaying the new message waiting to be addressed.
<For touch screen models>
- Load your document.
If you want to use 2-sided (duplex) scanning, load your document face up, top edge first in the ADF. - Press SCAN.
- Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to display to Email.
- Press to Email.
- (For network users)
- Press PC.
- Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to display the destination computer you want to use for E-mailing your document.
Note:
If the computer is not displayed, click here to see how to solve the issue. - Press the destination computer and press OK.
- If the LCD prompts you to enter a PIN number, enter the 4-digit PIN number for the destination computer on the control panel, and press OK.
- Do one of the following:
- If you want to use 2-sided (duplex) scanning, go to STEP 7.
- If you do not want to use 2-sided (duplex) scanning, go to STEP 8.
- Press Duplex Scan and then press DuplexScan :LongEdge or DuplexScan :ShortEdge. Go to STEP 8.
- Press Black (Mono) Start or Color (Colour) Start.
The machine starts scanning the document, creates a file attachment, and launches your E-mail application, displaying the new message waiting to be addressed.
