If you are having difficulty sending a fax overseas due to possible interference on the telephone line, setting your Brother machine's Compatibility to Basic may help.

1. Press Menu.
   
   
2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to display Initial Setup.
   
   
3. Press Initial Setup.
   
   
4. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to display Compatibility.
   
   
5. Press Compatibility.
   
   
6. Press Basic (for VoIP).
   
   
7. Press STOP/EXIT.
   
   

If you are still having problems sending overseas after setting Compatibility to Basic (for VoIP), try turning on your Brother machine's Overseas Mode.

1. Press (FAX).
   
   
2. Place the document you want to fax face down on the flat scanner glass.
   
   
3. Press Options.
   
   
4. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROWkey to display Overseas Mode.
   
   
5. Press Overseas Mode.
   
   
6. Press On.
   
   
7. Press .
   
   
8. Enter the fax number you want to send to.
   
   
9. Press the BLACK(MONO) START or the COLOR(COLOUR) START on the Brother machine.
   
   
   • If you press the BLACK(MONO) START on your Brother machine, the machine will scan the first page. Go to STEP 10.
     
     
   • If you press the COLOR(COLOUR) START on your Brother machine, the machine will scan and fax the document.
   
   
10. Do one of the following:
    
    
    • To send a single-page fax, press BLACK(MONO) START on your Brother machine again or press No (Send).
      
      Your Brother machine will scan and fax the document.
      
      
    • To send more than one page, press Yes. Go to STEP 11.
    
    
11. Place the next page you want to fax face down on the flat scanner glass.
    
    
12. Press OK.
    
    
    • Your Brother machine will scan the next page.
      
      
    • Repeat STEPS 10 and 11 for each additional page you want to fax.
