When your Brother machine's memory is full, it cannot scan documents into memory before faxing them. Real Time Transmission allows you to send faxes without first scanning the documents into memory.

When Real Time Transmission is on, you place the document in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) or on the flat scanner glass and dial the fax number you want to send to. As soon as your fax line is free, your machine will dial the fax number and send the fax in real time.

You can make Real Time Transmission your default sending setting or temporarily activate it for the next fax you send.

To turn Real Time Transmission on, follow these steps:
NOTE: Illustrations shown below are from a representative product and may differ from your Brother machine.

1. Press Fax to illuminate it.
    
2. Do one of the following:

    

   • Place the document you want to fax face down in the ADF.
     
     

      

   • Place the document you want to fax face down on the flat scanner glass.
     
     

    

3. Press Menu/Set and choose Fax => Setup Send => Real Time TX.
    
4. Do one of the following:

    

   • To make Real Time Transmission your default fax setting, follow these steps:

      

     1. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose On.
         
     2. Press Menu/Set.
         
     3. Go to STEP 5.
   • To turn Real Time Transmission on for the next fax you send, follow these steps:

      

     1. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose Next Fax Only.
         
     2. Press Menu/Set.
         
     3. Press the Up or Down arrow key to choose On.
         
     4. Press Menu/Set.
         
     5. Go to STEP 5.
5. Enter the fax number you want to send to.
    
6. Do one of the following:

    

   • Press the blue key labeled Black (Mono) Start to send a black and white fax.
      
   • Press the green key labeled Color (Colour) Start to send a color fax.
