Whenever anyone attempts to leave a message, all they hear are funny sounds and eventually a high pitched squeal. Why is this happening?

The problem is that the Message Centre unit is in the F/T mode and not the Message Centre mode. The F/T mode will not allow any voice messages to be recorded. You must set up Message Centre in the following order:

<STEP1> How to setup Message Centre:

You must set up Message Centre in the following order:

  1. Set the Voice Store.
  2. Setting Fax Forward/Fax Storage.
  3. Record the Message Centre's Outgoing Message (TAD MESSAGE).
  4. Activate Message Centre (TAD) Mode by pressing the Digital TAD key on the control panel.

<STEP2> Setting the Voice Store:

  1. Press the Menu/Set key on the Control Panel.
  2. Press the up or down navigation key and select SETUP MSG CTR,  then VOICE STORE.
  3. Press the up or down navigation key and select ON, and press Menu/Set. If you want to store voice messages in the external answeringmachine, select EXT.
  4. Press Menu/Set.
  5. Press Stop/Exit.

<STEP3> Setting Fax Forward/Fax Storage:

  • FAX FORWARD
When you select FAX FORWARD, your fax machine stores the received fax in the Message Centre memory. The fax machine will then dial the fax number you've programmed and forwards the fax message.

  • FAX STORAGE
If you select FAX STORAGE, your fax machine stores the received fax in the memory. You will be able to retrieve fax messages from another location using the Remote Retrieval commands.

  • OFF
Incoming faxes are not stored in memory, but will be printed on paper.

  1. Press the Menu/Set key on the Control Panel.
  2. Press the up or down navigation key and select SETUP MSG CTR, then FORWARD/STORE.
  3. Press Menu/Set.
  4. Press the up or down navigation key and select FAX FORWARD, FAX STORAGE or OFF as you want.
  5. Press Menu/Set.
  6. Press Stop/Exit.

<STEP4> Recording the Message Centre's Outgoing Message (TAD MESSAGE):
Recording the Message Centre's Outgoing Message (TAD MESSAGE) is the second step you need to follow before you can turn on the Message Centre. Make sure your OGM (Outgoing Message) is less than 20 seconds long.

  1. Press the Menu/Set key on the Control Panel.
  2. Press the up or down navigation key and select SETUP MSG CTR,  then OGM. The screen prompts you to choose an OGM.
  3. Press the up or down navigation key to reach MSG CTR OGM.

This is the only setting you can select if you want to turn the Message Centre on.

  1. Press Menu/Set.
  2. Press the up or down navigation key and select RECORD MSG. Press Menu/Set.
  3. Pick up the handset to record a message.
    For example:
Hello. We are unable to take your call at this time. Please leave a message after the signal. If you wish to send a fax, please press *51, wait for the fax tones, then press the start button on your machine.
  4. Press Stop/Exit and replace the handset. The Message Manager plays your OGM.
  5. Press Stop/Exit.

<STEP4> Activating Message Centre Mode:

Press and hold the Digital TAD key until the button lights and the screen displays MC:MSG CTR. When Digital TAD light is out, the Message Centre is off.
