Send a fax using PC-FAX with LPD/LPRng (Linux)
We recommend using CUPS to send a fax using PC-FAX. If your distribution does not support CUPS, you can use either the LPD or LPRng system.
> Click here to see how to configure PC-FAX (CUPS) (Linux).
1. Add BRFAX information to the printcap file
Edit the /etc/printcap file as follows:
USB-connected machines

:mx=0:\
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/BRFAX:\
:sh:\
:lp=/dev/usb/lp0:\
:if=/opt/brother/fax/brmfcfax/lpd/filterBRFAX:
Network-connected machines
BRFAX:\
:mx=0:\
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/BRFAX:\
:sh:\
:rm=[your machine's IP address]:\
:if=/opt/brother/fax/brmfcfax/lpd/filterBRFAX:

Example 2
To send a fax using PC-FAX to multiple numbers, create a fax number list.
> Click here for more information about creating a fax number list.
- Give the "read" and "execute" permissions to both this fax number list and its directory to all users.
-
Specify the absolute path to the fax number list after "fax_number_list=".
- Do not use a relative path or the tilde "~"
- Do not add any parameters after the fax number.
: fax_number= fax_number_list= (the path of fax number list) |
How to create a fax number list
Create a fax number list according to the following rules:
- Add one fax destination number per line.
- Do not add more than 50 fax destination numbers per list.
- Use the hyphen "-" to separate number groups (for example: 0566-55-12345)
- Do not use the tilde or two-byte characters.
- Make sure the line length is within 500 bytes.
- Lines starting with "#" are interpreted as comments.

# Koizumi(Reader)
# Suzuki
# Other members |
