How do I make my faxed documents lighter or darker? (Fax Contrast)
For most documents, the Brother machine's default Fax Contrast setting of Auto will produce the best results. This setting automatically chooses the suitable contrast for your document.
If you want to fax a very light or very dark document, changing the contrast may improve the fax quality.
Please follow the steps below to change your Brother machine's Fax Contrast setting.
*If your Brother machine has a touchscreen, please follow the steps under "For touchscreen models" below.

Press FAX to illuminate it.

Do one of the following:

Place the document you want to copy into the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) face up, top edge first.
- Place the document you want to copy face down on the flat scanner glass.

Place the document you want to copy into the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) face up, top edge first.

Press Menu and select Fax => Setup Send => Contrast.

Press the Up or Down arrow key to select Auto, Light, or Dark.

Use Dark to make the faxed document lighter.
- Use Light to make the faxed document darker.
Even if you choose Light or Dark, the Brother machine will send the fax using the Auto setting if you set Fax Resolution to Photo.

Use Dark to make the faxed document lighter.

Press OK.

Press Fax.

Press the Left or Right arrow key to display Contrast. Press Contrast.

Press Auto, Light or Dark.

Use Dark to make the faxed document lighter.
- Use Light to make the faxed document darker.
Even if you choose Light or Dark, the machine will send the fax using the Auto setting if you choose Photo as the Fax Resolution.
