What kind of memory can I use?


HL-1440:
This printer has 2 Mbytes of standard memory and one slot for optional expansion memory. The memory can be expanded up to 34 Mbytes by installing a commercially available single in-line memory modules(SIMM).


HL-1450/ 1470N:
These printers have 8 Mbytes of standard memory and one slot for optional expansion memory. 4 Mbytes of memory is fitted on the board, the other 4 Mbytes is on the installed SIMM. The memory can be expanded up to 36 Mbytes by installing a commercially available single in-line memory modules (SIMM). When you want to expand the memory, you need to remove the fitted SIMM and then install a new SIMM of at least 8 Mbytes.

  • The printer has only one slot for a SIMM upgrade. If you want to increase your printed memory again after you have already installed a SIMM module in the slot, you will need to remove the previously installed SIMM.
  • Addtional memory is useful and may be necessary if you are using the Page Protection function.

  • (For HL-1440 users) The resident memory of HL-1440 printer is 2 MB, so you need to expand the memory by adding a SIMM to print at 1200 dpi.
  • (For HL-1470N users) You have to expand the printer memory by adding a SIMM to use the FTP/IPP protocol.
