Configure and use PC-FAX (CUPS) (Linux)
Reduce paper consumption and save time by using Brother's PC-FAX software to send faxes directly from your machine.
1. Install the PC-FAX driver
Debian-based distributions:
dpkg -i brmfcfaxdrv-2.0.0-1.i386.deb
Other distributions:
rpm -ihv brmfcfaxdrv-2.0.0-1.i386.rpm
If your machine is not detected, add it manually. For more information, see your Linux distribution's documentation.
2. Configure PC-FAX
2.1 Using the Configure Printer window
Make sure the PC-FAX driver is installed and do the following:
- Open the CUPS configuration window.
- Click BRFAX.
- Click Configure Printer.
2.2 Using the brpcfax command
Example:
brpcfax -o fax-number=0566-55-12345 -o PaperType=A4 sample.pdf
brpcfax -o fax-number=0566-55-12345 -o Quality=Standard sample.pdf
(Where 0566-55-12345 is the recipient's fax number and sample.pdf is the content of your fax)

3. Send a fax using PC-FAX
3.1 Send a fax from the command line

To send a fax to one number
Use the following fax-broadcast command:
brpcfax -o fax-number=0566-55-12345 sample.pdf
(Where 0566-55-12345 is the recipient's fax number and sample.pdf is the content of your fax.)

To send a fax to multiple numbers (Broadcast)

Create a fax number list file according to the following rules:
- Add one fax destination number per line.
- Do not add more than 50 fax destination numbers per list.
- Use the hyphen "-" to separate number groups (for example: 0566-55-12345).
- Do not use the tilde (~) or two-byte characters.
- Make sure the line length is within 500 bytes.
- Lines starting with "#" are interpreted as comments.
Example:

Use the following fax-broadcast command:
brpcfax -o fax-broadcast=/home/send/fax-group1.txt sample.pdf
(Where /home/send/fax-group1.txt is the location and name of your fax number list file, and psfile.ps is the content of your fax.)

Create a fax number list file according to the following rules:
3.2 Send a fax from LibreOffice
This feature is only available in LibreOffice 6.0.3 or later.
- Select Print from the File menu.
- Select BRFAX in the Printer window.
- Click Properties.
- Select the Device tab.
- Enter a fax number in Fax Number, and then click OK.
- Click OK.
