How do I clear the message "No Waste Toner"?
This message will appear if the waste toner box is not installed or not installed correctly.
To clear the message follow the steps listed below:
- Power Off the Brother machine using the power switch located on the right side of the machine.
- Press down on the front cover release lever and open the front cover by pulling it towards you.
- Remove the drum unit:
- Locate the green handle of the drum unit (labeled 1). Pull the handle down and then slightly lift the drum unit up and pull it out until it stops.
If you cannot pull the drum unit out, make sure that the front cover is fully open.
- Release the drum unit by lifting up the gray lock lever (label 2) located inside the machine, on the left side, below the green sticker with the white arrow.
- Pull the drum unit completely out of the machine, using the green handles (labeled 1 and 3). Hold the handles of the drum unit when you carry it. DO NOT hold the sides of the drum unit.
Make sure you place the drum unit on a CLEAN, FLAT surface with a piece of paper underneath it in case you accidentally spill or scatter toner.
- Locate the green handle of the drum unit (labeled 1). Pull the handle down and then slightly lift the drum unit up and pull it out until it stops.
- Remove the belt unit:
- Remove the belt unit by placing your hands under the arrows (below the green plastic) and lift the belt up and out of the machine.
Graphic instructions are also available on the front of the belt
- Place the belt on a flat surface and be careful not to damage the black belt.
- Remove the belt unit by placing your hands under the arrows (below the green plastic) and lift the belt up and out of the machine.
- Verify the waste toner box is installed in the Brother machine:
- The waste toner box has a grey roller located on the top of the box and a green handle located the front of the box.
If the waste toner box is not installed in the machine you will see a large white plain label.
- If the waste toner box is installed in the machine, continue to Step 6. If you do not see a waste toner box in the machine, you will need to either locate the box and install it in the machine or purchase a replacement waste toner box.
- The waste toner box has a grey roller located on the top of the box and a green handle located the front of the box.
- Remove the waste toner box, by lifting it up and out of the machine using the green handle located on the front of the box.
- Clean the two metal contacts located on the back of the waste toner box with a dry cloth or paper towel.
- Reinstall the waste toner box in the Brother machine.
- Reinstall the belt unit by sliding it in all the way until it stops and then press down on the green handle so the two green arrows meet.
- Reinstall the drum unit:
- Make sure that the gray lock lever, (labeled 2), is in the up position.
- Match the green roller guides of the drum unit handle to the green stickers with the white arrows, located on the left and right side of the printer.
- Position the drum unit on the guides and push the gray lock lever down.
- Push the drum unit all the way back into the printer, until it clicks into place.
- Make sure that the gray lock lever, (labeled 2), is in the up position.
- Close the front cover, and power the machine back up.
