How do I connect the printer to my computer via wired LAN (Ethernet)? (for Mac)

  • To use a static IP address to connect your printer to a wired LAN, install the printer driver and Printer Setting Tool (for macOS10.15 or earlier), and then specify the wired LAN connection settings.
  • You cannot use the wireless and wired function at the same time. Before you use the wired function, turn off the wireless function.
  • Use a straight-through Category 5 (or greater) twisted-pair cable for 10BASE-T or 100BASE-TX Fast Ethernet Network.
  • Connect the printer to the LAN port that is not subjected to overvoltage.

Follow the procedures below:

 

> For printers compatible with Full Software Package:

> For printers compatible with the printer driver:

> For printers not compatible with the printer driver:

 

For printers compatible with Full Software Package

 

  1. Turn on the printer.

  2. Download Full Software Package from the [Downloads] section of this website.

  3. Double-click the downloaded file, and then start the installer from [Start Here Mac].

  4. When the [Connection Type] dialogue box appears, select [Wired Network Connection (Ethernet)].

  5. Click [Next] and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

  6. Connect the LAN cable to the printer LAN port.

  7. The printer is now available with a computer via wired LAN (Ethernet).


For printers compatible with the printer driver

 

  1. Turn on the printer.

  2. Download the printer driver from the [Downloads] section of this website.

  3. Double-click the downloaded file, and then follow the instructions to install the printer driver.
     
  4. Connect the LAN cable to the printer LAN port.

  5. From the Apple Menu, open [System Settings] / [System Preferences] - [Printers & Scanners] / [Print & Scan].

  6. Click [Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax] or the [+] button.
     
  7. Click the [Default] icon at the top of the dialogue box.

  8. Choose your machine from the [Name] list.

  9. Choose "[model name] + CUPS" from the [Use] list.

    If you cannot find "[model name] + CUPS", the CUPS printer driver is not installed. Download and install the latest CUPS printer driver from the [Downloads] section.


  10. Click [Add].

  11. The printer is now available with a computer via wired LAN (Ethernet).

  12. Choose [Quit System Settings] or [Quit System Preferences] from the Apple Menu.


For printers not compatible with printer driver

 

  1. Connect the printer and the computer with a LAN cable properly.
     
  2. The printer is now available with a computer via wired LAN (Ethernet).
