Change the scan settings of ControlCenter4 and your machine's SCAN key (Windows)

You can change the scan settings (such as Resolution and File Type) used for scanning from ControlCenter4 or when using the SCAN key on your Brother machine:

 

1. Change the scan settings of ControlCenter4 (Home Mode)

In Home Mode, you can configure Document Type and Scan Size before scanning a document.

1.1 Change the Document Type

The following basic settings are available:

  • Photo: Resolution: 600x600dpi, Scan Type: 24bit Colour
  • Text and Graph: Resolution: 300x300dpi, Scan Type: 24bit Colour
  • Monochrome Text: Resolution: 200x200dpi, Scan Type: Black and White

To set custom settings:

 

  1. Click the Scan tab and select Custom, and then click Custom Settings.

  2. The Custom Scan Settings window appears. Configure the settings and click OK.

1.2 Change the Scan Size

Select your document size from the Scan Size drop-down menu.

You can select other settings, such as File Type, File Name and Scan Location (or Destination Folder), after scanning.

 

2. Change the scan settings of ControlCenter4 (Advanced Mode)

 

Advanced Mode
 

Scan options:

 

  • Scan to File
    Scan a document to a previously specified folder.
     
  • Scan to E-mail
    Scan a document to your default email application and send the scanned job as an attachment.
     
  • Scan to OCR (not available in all countries)
    Scan a document and convert it into text.
     
  • Scan to Image
    Scan an image directly into your graphics application for image editing.

 

2.1 Change settings for Scan to File

  1. Click the Scan tab and right-click the File button, and then select Button settings.

  2. The settings window for Scan to File  appears. Configure the settings and click OK. For example:
  • Set the prefix text used for the file name of the scanned data in the File Name box.
  • Set the folder to save the scanned data in the Destination Folder or Scan Location box.

2.2 Change settings for Scan to E-mail

  1. Click the Scan tab and right-click the E-mail button, and then select Button settings.

  2. The settings window for Scan to E-mail appears. Configure the settings and click OK. For example, select the attachment file format from the File Type drop-down menu.

2.3 Change settings for Scan to OCR

  1. Click the Scan tab and right-click the OCR button, and then select Button settings.

  2. The settings window for Scan to OCR appears. Configure the settings and click OK. For example:
  • Select the text editor where the converted text data will appear from the Target Application drop-down menu.
  • Select the language you want to convert into from the OCR Language drop-down menu.

2.4 Change settings for Scan to Image

  1. Click the Scan tab and right-click the Image button, and then select Button settings.

  2. The settings window for Scan to Image appears. Configure the settings and click OK. For example, select the graphics application where the scanned image will appear from the Target Application drop-down menu.

3. Change the scan settings of your Brother machine's SCAN key

You can configure the scan settings of your Brother machine’s SCAN key in ControlCenter4.
 

  1. Open the Device Scan Settings window.

    Home Mode
    Click the Device Settings tab > Device Scan Settings.

    Advanced Mode
    Click the Device Settings tab > Device Scan Settings.

  2. The Device Scan Settings window appears. Click the tab for the scan option you want to configure, configure the scan settings, and then click ApplyOK. (Scan to OCR is not available in all countries.)
