Send a fax without scanning the documents into memory.

When your Brother machine's memory is full, it cannot scan documents into memory before faxing them. Real Time Transmission allows you to send faxes without first scanning the documents into memory.

When Real Time Transmission is on, you place the document in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) or on the flat scanner glass and dial the fax number you want to send to. As soon as your fax line is free, your machine will dial the fax number and send the fax in real time.

You can make Real Time Transmission your default sending setting or temporarily activate it for the next fax you send.

To turn Real Time Transmission on, follow these steps:

  1. Press the FAX key to illuminate it.

  2. Load your document.

  3. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Real Time TX.

  4. Press the OK key.

  5. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose On.

  6. Press the OK key.

    • To use Real Time Transmission on for the next fax only, go to STEP 7.

    • To make Real Time Transmission your default fax setting, follow these steps:

      1. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose Set New Default.

      2. Press the OK key.

      3. Press 1 to choose Yes.

      4. Go to STEP 7.

  7. Enter the fax number you want to send to.

  8. Do one of the following:

    • Press the Black (Mono) Start key to send a black and white fax.

    • Press the Color (Colour) Start key to send a color fax.
  • When you are using Real Time Transmission, the automatic redial feature will not work when you send a fax from the flat scanner glass.

  • If you are sending a color fax, the machine will send the fax in real time even if Real Time Transmission is off.
