I have installed the scanner on my Macintosh but I cannot scan.

Brother provides a back-end driver that allows the scanner to work with Macintosh systems, but no software is provided. You will need to have your own scanning software in order to use the scanner on a Macintosh system. There is a program called Image Capture that is included on all Mac systems which can be used for scanning. The functionality of this software with the scanner varies with each Macintosh operating system.
