Im using Mac OS X 10.2-10.4  and the Brother machine does not appear in the Print Center or Setup Utility.

If you are getting an error when trying to print or if the product does not appear in the "Printer List" window of the Print Center, please follow the directions below to correct the situation.

 


  1. Disconnect the cable from the computer and the Brother Machine.
    Connect the end of the USB cable directly to the Mac. Connect the other end of the USB cable directly to the Brother Machine.
  2. Restart the computer.
    (Click on the Apple Menu and choose Restart.)
  3. Open Print Center.
    In order to locate the Print Center application, please go to the Utilities folder, located within the Applications folder. (Applications -> Utilities -> Print Center)
  4. Choose the USB connection type from the drop down menu.
  5. Select your model printer from the listed items.
  6. Click Add.
    At this point, you should see your model listed in the main body of the Print Center window. The driver is now selected and active on the system, exit the Print Center.

If the name of the product does not appear in the Printer List of the Print Center, the Mac does not see the unit. Please be sure that the length of the USB cable does not exceed 6 ft (2 meters) or you may want to replace the USB cable with another, known working cable.
