List of Error Messages

 

If you press the stitch selection key or do the operation correctly while the error message is displayed, the message disappears.
When erroneous operations are performed messages and advice on operation will be displayed on the LCD. Follow what is displayed. The error message will disappear if an operation button is pressed or the correct operation is performed while the error message is displayed.

Error Messages

Probable Cause & Solution

E1

Cause

This message is displayed when a button, such as the “Start/Stop” button, is pressed (The foot controller was depressed if it is connected.) while the presser foot was raised.

 

Solution

Lower the presser foot lever before continuing the operation.

E2

Cause

This message is displayed when the buttonhole lever is down, a stitch other than a buttonhole is selected, presser foot is lowered and a button, such as the “Start/Stop” button, is pressed (The foot controller was depressed if it is connected.).

 

Solution

Raise the buttonhole lever before continuing the operation.

E3

Cause

This message is displayed when the buttonhole lever is up, a buttonhole stitch is selected, presser foot is lowered and a button, such as the “Start/Stop” button, is pressed (The foot controller was depressed if it is connected.).

 

Solution

Lower the buttonhole lever before continuing the operation.

E4

Cause

This message is displayed when a button, such as the Reverse stitch button, is pressed while the bobbin winder shaft is moved to the right.

 

Solution

Move the bobbin winder shaft to the left before continuing the operation.

E5

Cause

This message is displayed when the “Start/Stop” button is pressed while the foot controller is connected.

 

Solution

Disconnect the foot controller, and then press the “Start/Stop” button. Otherwise, operate the machine by using the foot controller.

E6

Cause

The motor locked up because the thread became tangled.

E6 message appears on the LCD.

E7

Cause

This message is displayed when the needle mode selection key is pressed while a stitch that cannot be used with the twin needle is selected. Select a stitch that can be used with the twin needle.

E8

Cause

This message is displayed when Twin needle (Twin needle) is turned on, and a stitch pattern that cannot be sewn with the twin needle is selected.

 

Solution

Switch to the single needle mode, and replace the twin needle with a single needle before continuing the operation.

E9

Cause

This message is displayed when the needle plate cover is removed while the machine is still turned on.

 

Solution

Turn off the machine, and then attach the needle plate cover before continuing the operation.

F*

Cause

If error message “F*” appears in the LCD while the machine is being used, the machine may be malfunctioning. (“*” will be replaced with a number.)

 

Solution

Contact your nearest Brother authorized service center.
