Set up a Brother machine and your mobile device on a wireless network
You can use a wireless router or access point to connect your Brother machine to your mobile device.

1. Connect your Brother machine to your mobile device without using a wireless router or access point
Do the following:
1. Set up your Brother machine
2. Set up your mobile device
1.1 Set up your Brother machine
- Press the Menu button on the machine's control panel.
- Press the Up or Down arrow key to select Network, and then press OK.
- Press the Up or Down arrow key to select Wi-Fi Direct, and then press OK.
- Press the Up or Down arrow key to select Group Owner, and then press OK.
- Press the Up or Down arrow key to select On, and then press OK.
- Press the Up or Down arrow key to select Manual, and then press OK.
- When Wi-Fi Direct On? appears, press 1 to enable the Wi-Fi Direct network.

The machine will display the Network Name (SSID) and Network Key (Password) for two minutes.
Write down the Network Name (SSID) and Network Key (Password). You will need this information later.
1.2 Set up your mobile device
When you have finished setting up your Brother machine, set up your mobile device:

2. Connect your Brother machine to your mobile device using a wireless router
Do the following:
1. Find the wireless network settings of your wireless router/access point
2. Set up the Brother machine
3. Set up your mobile device
2.1 Find the wireless network settings of your wireless router/access point
You must find and write down the wireless network settings of your wireless router/access point (you will need
this information later):
- Network Name (also known as "SSID" or "ESSID")
- Network Key (also known as "Password", "Security Key", or "Encryption Key")
- Check the base or side of your wireless router or access point.
- See the documentation provided with your wireless router or access point.
- Brother cannot provide this information. If you cannot find your wireless Network Name (SSID) and Network Key (Password), contact your Internet service provider or router manufacturer.
- If your wireless router or access point uses WEP encryption with multiple WEP keys, write down and use only the first WEP key.
After writing down the network information of your wireless router/access point, go to step 2.2.
2.2 Set up the Brother machine
- Press the Menu button on the machine's control panel.
- Press the Up or Down arrow key to select Network and press OK.
- Press the Up or Down arrow key to select WLAN and press OK.
- Press the Up or Down arrow key to select Setup Wizard and press OK.
- When WLAN Enable? appears, enable the wireless network. The wireless setup wizard starts.
- The machine searches for your wireless network and displays a list of available Network Names (SSIDs). Select the Network Name (SSID) you wrote down earlier. Press OK.
- If the machine asks to use WPS, select No.
- Enter the Network Key (Password) you wrote down earlier.
- Press OK.
- Select Yes to apply your settings.

The machine tries to connect to the device you have selected.
If your mobile device connects successfully If you cannot connect The machine's LCD displays Connected.
The machine will print a wireless connection report. Check the error code on the printed report.

2.3 Set up your mobile device
When finished configuring your Brother machine, set up your mobile device:
